Executive Team Roles and responsibilities
The following is a brief summary of the positions on the Executive Team and the responsibilities for each position. The full descriptions and responsibilities can be found in the UPSC constitution on our "How We Work" page.
President
The President is a senior undergraduate student familiar with UPSC operations who is the official spokesperson for the UPSC. The president must set and approve decisions regarding the direction, priorities, and strategy for UPSC to achieve its objectives. The president also ensures executive members know their roles and responsibilities and are carrying them out.
Vice-President
The Vice-President is responsible for carrying out day to day operations of UPSC. This includes managing the UPSC email account, maintaining and organizing all documents, scheduling meetings/office hours, taking meeting minutes, and maintaining a record of UPSC volunteer hours.
director of finance
The VP of Finance is responsible for preparing the budget spreadsheet for approval by the Executive Team every academic year. Other responsibilities include: allocating funds, keeping records of receipts of purchases, signing off on all bank transactions, and facilitating fundraising with the VP of Events.
director of Student outreach and recruitment
The VP of Student Outreach and Recruitment is responsible for connecting with Political Science students by planning tabling events, visiting classrooms to promote UPSC and upcoming events, maintain UPSC member list, and communicate with other clubs, SCLD, and YFS.
Director of Academics
The VP of Academics is responsible for keeping in communication with the Department of Politics, the McLaughlin Master Office, LAPS, SCLD and all other academic departments; and is a representation of UPSC on all academic matters.
Director of Communications
The VP of Communications is responsible for managing UPSC’s social media accounts, creating promotional content, marketing and promotional activity, and creating email campaigns. As the VP of Communications is responsible for all forms of communication UPSC has with internal and external organizations, a successful candidate will have extensive knowledge in digital media and computing.
CHIEF RETURNING OFFICER
The Chief Returning Officer is an executive with experience in the UPSC that serves to ensure the smoothness of operations in this years’ operations. By having a CRO, the UPSC is in constant smooth transition from one team to the next.
General associate
The General Associate is responsible for assisting the executive team with their events and day-to-day operations. Furthermore, they help come up with event ideas and is actively involved in the UPSC community by encouraging others to join and to help members navigate their way around how the UPSC works and what we can do to assist you.
Communications Associate
The Communications Associate is a responsible for assisting the VP Communications with promotion of club events by creating posters and managing social media content. They are also encouraged to offer insight on how we can increase engagement for the club through promotional materials.
First-year and second-year representatives
The First-Year and Second-Year Representatives are students who are interested in gaining experience in a club and growing their social network. These executives are responsible for assisting the engagement of UPSC and offering new ideas for club events and operations.
ADVISOR
The Advisor is a previous UPSC executive who stays in contact with the in-coming executive-team to provide guidance and assistance in the operations of UPSC.
